With proposed amendments to Extended Producer Responsibility and a new consistent collections policy both up for their final consultation in the first quarter this year, a new vision for the future of recycling in the UK is quickly taking shape. A wider range of materials are expected to be collected for recycling from households and businesses across the country, including packaging like cartons, plastic films and flexible packaging whose unique qualities will require special consideration.

We are presenting a webinar series to discuss the opportunities and challenges to collect new materials for recycling, mapping out how they could fit into the future waste management system in the UK and highlighting key considerations along the value chain. Experts from industry, local government, and consumer brands will dive deeper into what it might look like to collect, sort, and recycle these materials.

In this third and final session of the ‘managing new materials in core’ webinar series, our panel will discuss end markets for the proposed new core materials, looking at how they are currently recycled in other countries, the requirement to scale up existing treatment options, and consider the treatment options that may become available.
