A brilliant big beach clean up

Volunteers from SUEZ recycling and recovery UK joined the Severn Estuary Big Beach Clean event collecting over 16 bags of waste!

The SUEZ industrial and commercial team based in the southwest organised a beach clean on Friday 27 September 2024 as part of the annual Severn Estuary Big Beach clean event. The event is aimed at rallying communities across the estuary to unite and make the coastline even more beautiful and cleaner.

This dedicated team of 11 volunteers came together to collect an impressive total of 16 bags of waste, significantly contributing to the protection of our marine environment.

Every year the event attracts community members, local schools, and environmental enthusiasts who roll up their sleeves to clean the shoreline and raise awareness about the critical issue of ocean pollution. The volunteers worked diligently to remove plastic debris, cigarette butts, and other harmful waste that poses a threat to marine life and coastal ecosystems.

"We are thrilled with the turnout and the impact we made together," said Justin Tarrant-Willis Regional Sales Manager “Collecting 16 bags of waste is a testament to the commitment of the team and wanting to help protect our oceans.”

SUEZ continue to work with the Severn Estuary Partnership to provide 2-minute litter pick boards throughout Somerset. “I‘m always really proud of the work we do to support our communities,” said Lilly Morton, Community Liaison Manager. “The litter pick boards and events like these mean we have a really positive impact on our environment.”
