The future of social value – what’s next?
-
In early 2022, a Social Value Task Force was mobilised, comprising key organisations at the forefront of the social value agenda, including SUEZ, Siemens, PWC and the Shaw Trust, led by Social Enterprise UK and former MP Chris White, who successfully steered the Social Value Act through the parliamentary process in 2012. Social Value Task Force aim was to better understand the potential role social value could play in what is a critical decade for change, where the stakes in relation to the climate, social inequality and a stumbling economy couldn’t be higher.
In May this year, the Social Value Task Force launched Social Value 2032: Shaping the future of social value, which sets the scene for what this role could be, and the potential benefits it can bring to key policy areas such as Net Zero and Levelling Up, by enabling decision makers at all levels to consider the impact on people, planet and the economy, whether it’s in relation to strategy, operations or procurement.
