Empowering the next generation of green professionals via apprenticeships
-
National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) takes place from 10 to 16 February 2025, bringing together everyone passionate about apprenticeships and skills development to recognise their immense value, and the opportunities they create in building the future workforces of the UK.
This year, the Department for Education has announced the overall theme as ‘Skills for Life’—which perfectly aligns with the transition happening in the waste & resource sector. As we move from simple collection, transport, and disposal to ever more complicated materials capture, processing and circular systems – preparing our existing workforce for this transition is key if we are to build momentum heading towards a net zero sector.
Our upcoming webinar on 11 February 2025, will examine the crucial role that apprenticeships and wider on-the-job training (OJT) plays now (and in the next decade) in delivering the critical and green skills required to meet the sector’s transition demands.
From embracing AI and empowering entrepreneurial decision-making to harnessing new technologies, engineering and monitoring capabilities to benefiting from quality data and value chain alignment - how well is SUEZ and the wider resource and waste sector shaping the workforce of tomorrow and preparing it for the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead?
This session will explore SUEZ's expertise in developing innovative apprenticeship programmes tailored to the waste and resource industry, the role of partnerships in delivering these programmes, and the vital importance of OJT in building essential green skills training opportunities. We will hear about the real-life experiences of our apprentices and their aspirations for the sector and their development, and from representatives from our training partners about the scale of change and how we are preparing to meet it.
Join our panel for a session packed with invaluable insights and innovative ideas on how to build a skilled, sustainable workforce prepared to meet the challenges of a greener future.
