Seven steps to accelerate progress to a circular economy
-
The UK's consumption society is highly unsustainable. Despite longstanding waste strategies in the UK and EU, we continue to discard vast amounts of reusable goods. Research from our 2023 report, Re-use – Seizing the Opportunity, revealed that every day, 35,500 reusable items pass through household waste recycling centres—totalling 13 million items annually that are either recycled, incinerated, or sent to landfill.
In a world of depleting resources and escalating climate challenges, this level of waste is neither sustainable nor acceptable in a society striving to be environmentally responsible. Transitioning to a truly circular economy requires a fundamental shift in how we use, repair, and repurpose everyday items. Re-use must be at the heart of the solution and not an afterthought at the end of the value chain.
But how do we make this shift a reality?
Join our upcoming webinar, where experts will explore the practical solutions needed to drive the circular change. Drawing from our latest Re-Use Manifesto, we will discuss the seven actionable steps that can be implemented without major legislative changes to accelerate progress toward a more sustainable future. Our experts will explore:
- The seven key steps to integrate re-use and repair into mainstream practices
- The critical stakeholders necessary to drive and sustain this transformation
- The government's role in facilitating and scaling re-use initiatives
- The social, economic, and environmental benefits of embedding a repair-driven economy
Join the discussion and be a part of the movement shaping the future of sustainable consumption.
