The Energy from Waste conference 2025 taking place on the 05 and 06 March in London, will once again bring together an exceptional line-up of the industry's best speakers.
On the agenda are critical issues like Emissions Trading Schemes (ETS) in the UK and EU – implications, costs and impact on operators and local government, decarbonisation, CCS business models, RDF - and much more.
Day one: 05 March
Stuart Hayward-Higham, Chief Technical Development & Innovation Officer for SUEZ will be sharing his views on ‘An analysis of UK and EU ETS and resource policies - where do they impact on each other and what does it mean for composition and capacity for the waste to energy sector?’.
He will also talk on ‘ETS cost push-through: how will the cost burden be allocated, what are the implications for local authorities and what role will the interconnection with EPR play?’ in a post lunch session.
Dr. Adam Read, Chief External Affairs and Sustainability Officer for SUEZ will be joining the session on ‘Plastics sorting and separation – Running the world’s biggest plastics pre-sorting plant for MSW – the mechanics, the economics, the partnerships, the impact on waste to energy plants, and future directions’ and participating in the discussion.
Lionel Kosior, Lead Expert in Thermal Treatment & Energy from Waste from SUEZ France, will be sharing his expertise on ‘The Creteil and Toulouse waste to energy plants, France – case study’ along with co-panellists.
Day two: 06 March
John Scanlon, Chief Executive Officer for SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, joins the Leaders’ Panel where he will share his views on a wide range of topics like the impact of ETS, balancing CCS costs, skills shortage in the industry, future of the waste sector in next ten years and future growth opportunities.

Dr. Adam Read MBE, Chief External Affairs and Sustainability Officer for SUEZ will be participating in the panel discussion themed on ‘The future of waste – composition, capacity, circularity and competition’ and sharing his views.
