Statement issued on behalf of SUEZ recycling and recovery UK – Transport Avenue transfer station
A spokesperson for SUEZ recycling and recovery UK said:
“A fire started on Friday 03 August 2018 at Transport Avenue transfer station, which is operated by SUEZ on behalf of West London Waste Authority. The fire occurred in an outdoor bay storing dry mixed recyclables around 10pm. Fire crews attended the site and the fire was extinguished by around 7am the following morning. The main transfer station building was unaffected by the fire and the facilities re-opened for deliveries later that day (Saturday 04 August 2018).
“The fire affected three outdoor bays and, contrary to reports from the fire service, we estimate around 150 tonnes of material stored in the bays was affected by the fire. The cause of the fire is not yet known and we are investigating this.”
