From rubbish to red pandas: Waste management team swaps waste duty for zoo makeover!
On Thursday 10 October 2024, volunteers from the industrial and commercial department gathered at Newquay Zoo to lend their hands in various renovation tasks. The café, a vital hub for visitors, received a fresh coat of paint, while volunteers also worked diligently to clear excess vegetation, improving the overall aesthetic and accessibility of the zoo grounds.
“We believe in giving back to the communities we serve,” said James Antcliff, Key Account Manager at SUEZ. “Supporting local organisations like Newquay Zoo not only enhances the visitor experience but also fosters a deeper connection between our employees and the community. We are proud to contribute our time and resources to this wonderful facility.”
The zoo plays an essential role in wildlife conservation and education, providing visitors with opportunities to learn about various species and their habitats. The volunteer efforts will help ensure that the zoo remains an inviting space for families and individuals to explore and enjoy.
“SUEZ, who are our waste contractor, have sustainability days allowing staff to give time to environmental and sustainability projects. We are incredibly grateful for their support,” said Dave Folland, Head of Newquay Zoo. “Their willingness to help with these projects makes a significant difference in our ability to provide a great experience for visitors.”
This volunteer day is part of SUEZ’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and the local community.
