Giving something back

Christmas lunches galore for the local community!

SUEZ recycling and recovery UK were delighted to help those in need over Christmas with a donation of £500 to support a local initiative aimed at providing Christmas lunches for anyone who faced Christmas on their own. This contribution is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to giving back and fostering community spirit.

During the Christmas period many of our community, including elderly residents face the challenge of being alone and enjoying a traditional festive meal. The funds donated assisted in covering the costs of a delicious Christmas lunch, served by the many wonderful volunteers who gave up their own Christmas day celebrations to give back to their own community.

“What’s great about this initiative is that it was set up to help anyone who was on their own this Christmas. We had calls from people that had been released from hospital on the morning or the night before that we delivered a meal to, also families from the Women's Refuge wo had found themselves in temporary accommodation. I really enjoyed volunteering on Christmas day and helping people in our local community, I’d highly recommend it’’. said Lisa Adams, Administrations Manager at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK.

The initiative was coordinated by Reverend David Michael who worked tirelessly to ensure that no one was left out during the festive season. With the SUEZ’s donation, which also included the ingredients for the meals, they were able to prepare and deliver hearty lunches, along with a few festive surprises, to local homes.

Rev’d David Michael said “It has made a significant difference in the lives of many pensioners and local people this Christmas, it helps to remind them that they are not forgotten and are a valued part of our community.” If you would like to support or volunteer for next year’s Christmas lunch event please get in touch with Rev’d David Michael via email.
