SUEZ supports Milton Keynes City Council’s cleaner and greener ambitions

New Government figures show that Milton Keynes had the biggest rise in recycling rates of any place in England in 2023/24, rising an incredible 76 places in the rankings to number 7, with a recycling rate of 60.2%.

SUEZ recycling and recovery UK commenced the Collection, Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance Contract for Milton Keynes City Council on 04 September 2023. The new contract focused on a greener and modernised waste collection service, which included a service change of 300,000 new wheeled bins and residents being asked to separate out their paper and card from plastic, metal, and glass.

Milton Keynes City Council is asking for local people’s support to get to number 1 next year by making sure that everything that can be recycled is recycled, into the right bin.

Peter Marshall, Contract General Manager for SUEZ in Milton Keynes, said: “Our team have worked extremely hard to deliver a high-quality service for the people of Milton Keynes since we took on the contract in September 2023. We embarked on a journey in partnership with the Council to improve the recycling rates whilst making the streets cleaner and greener, and we are really proud to see such positive results. We look forward to continuing our work together to help people recycle more confidently, and to support the ambition to become number 1 for recycling.”
