Award winning HITZ programme continues momentum with second cohort of 2024/2025
We were delighted to welcome the second cohort of the 2024/2025 HITZ work experience partnership to SUEZ as part of our award-winning learning and employability programme with the Harlequins Foundation.
Over the course of two weeks, learners visited multiple SUEZ sites across London, gaining hands-on experience and discovering the breadth of opportunities within the waste management sector.
Delivered in collaboration with the Harlequins Foundation, HITZ is a learning and employability programme designed to support young people aged 16–24, who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET).
This initiative plays a crucial role in tackling the barriers these individuals often face when entering the workforce. Through workshops, site tours, and expert talks, participants develop key skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving – all crucial to face job applications and interviews with confidence.
This year’s enhanced version of the programme will support a total of 24 young people from vulnerable groups as part of our ongoing commitment to inspiring a new generation to learn about and consider careers in sustainability.
Jack Barber, Partnership and Community Engagement Manager at SUEZ said: “Programmes like HITZ are so important in opening doors to those who might not otherwise see a place for themselves in industries like ours. We are proud to partner with the Harlequins Foundation to provide real experiences for young people that build confidence, inspire ambition, and showcase the huge variety of careers available at SUEZ - from operational roles to sales and communications.”
We look forward to building on the success of this impactful programme, which is set to deliver over £160,000 in social value by June 2025.
