SUEZ recycling and recovery UK named as one of the top 50 employers of veterans in the UK 2024
SUEZ recycling and recovery UK today announces it has been named in the 100 GREAT British Employers of Veterans, a showcase of the UK's leading Forces Friendly employers and what they offer to military veterans.
The GREAT British Employers of Veterans programme was created last year by the organisers of the Ex-Forces in Business Awards, the world's largest business celebration of the Armed Forces community, to provide an in-depth guide to organisations where veterans can build a meaningful second career.
SUEZ employs 284 veterans, who bring their highly transferable skills and dedication to a variety of roles – from driving vehicles to energy-from-waste operations technician, to area supervisor and other managerial positions.
SUEZ set up its Veterans Network in 2018 to offer support and advice to employees who are ex-forces and it continues to go from strength to strength. New SUEZ recruits from the armed forces are assured a special welcome through the network, which provides a ‘buddy’ to help them in the transition to civilian life and their new career.
Tracey Leghorn, Chief Business Services Officer at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, said: “It’s a huge achievement to be recognised as one of the 100 Great British Employers of Veterans. We’re so proud to support the armed forces community, our veterans at SUEZ bring a wealth of skills and experience to our organisation and we are committed to supporting them to develop fulfilling careers within the business.”
Some of SUEZ’s ex-forces employees share their perspectives on what it’s like working for the company:
Carl Stewart, Production Shift Supervisor, commented: “SUEZ has been very good with me from a personal point of view. SUEZ are brilliant when it comes to different working groups, the Veterans group is a great circle and the opportunities I've had recently are exemplary. I have done the last two Big Battlefield Bike Rides with the full support of my manager Richard Brown and SUEZ, I also volunteered to repair the Shot at Dawn Memorial at the NAM which was very emotional.”
John Mead, Driver, commented: “I like that I am given the opportunity to volunteer as SUEZ has many networking groups that raise awareness and funds for charities. I also like the flexibility with my 4-on-4-off working pattern and the strong social and environmental values the business has.”
