Volunteers transform riding centre offering therapeutic activities to disabled people

SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, through their community engagement have helped to transform areas of a local riding centre dedicated to providing therapeutic riding programs for disabled children, teenagers, and adults, with a series of volunteer challenge days. This collaboration aims to promote volunteer activities that enhance the experience for riders and support the centre’s mission of providing an environment that promotes inclusivity.

Over the last 12 months volunteers from SUEZ, have participated in various activities including landscaping, painting stables, and converting an old horse box to enable the centre to provide teas and coffees from it for fundraising events. This initiative underscores SUEZ’s commitment to community engagement within the local area.

“We believe in the power of giving back and are excited to support the Avon Centre, with the great work they do” said Fred Stinchcombe, Regional Manager. “Our team really enjoyed rolling up their sleeves and contributing to an environment where everyone can thrive. We know that this type of therapy has proven benefits, and so we’re delighted to be able to help.”

The collaboration not only supports the physical upkeep of the riding centre but also aims to foster a sense of community among volunteers and riders. All the volunteers that have worked on the challenge days have reported back on how much they have loved being out in the grounds and with the horses.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with SUEZ. It has been great to have the teams on site helping to improve the facilities we offer our riders and volunteers” said Kim Langbridge, Therapeutic Programme Manager. “We are grateful for their support and look forward to continuing the relationship”

SUEZ encourages other local businesses and individuals to engage in volunteer opportunities at the Avon Centre and help foster a culture of care and community within the Avonmouth area.
