Transforming lives with preloved household items
The initiative seeks to collect used furniture items to create a welcoming environment for refugees as they settle into their new homes.
‘Refugees often face significant challenges when they arrive in our community, including the lack of basic household items’ said Alison Houghton, Senior Resettling Communities Officer for South Gloucestershire Council ‘This project not only addresses those needs but also promotes a culture of sustainability and collaboration. Thanks to the support from the Thornbury Revive shop the refugees have been able to choose items themselves to make their new accommodation feel and look like home.’
Roger Sealey Operations Manager for SUEZ said ‘ It’s fantastic that by working together we can repurpose items that are no longer wanted to have a lasting impact and make a difference to the lives of refugees whilst promoting sustainability and reuse within our communities. I’m really proud of the team that have worked hard to gather the items and deliver them out to the community’
